Fried fish in sweet and sour sauce

I got this recipe from my Mum’s 1970s book titled “A Basic Course in Home Management” by Lilian Tan and P. Visvalingam. Since I don’t use vinegar, I just omitted it. I also added chopped tomatoes to the recipe. The fish still came out tasty and the gravy was nice to accompany white rice.

When I started packing stuff to bring back to Malaysia, Hubby grumbled *often* about the many packs of curry, chilli and turmeric powder I had. Hey, some of them were given to me! (by well-meaning friends in Malaysia who either sent, passed via friends or pushed them to us… :P)
