Air Asia’s nasi lemak

I couldn’t help asking my Malaysian visitors what they had on the flight here and almost died when they said nasi lemak (white rice steamed in coconut milk, pandanus leaves accompanied with deep fried anchovies in chilli with onions paste (sambal ikan bilis), hardboiled eggs and cucumber slices!

My Grandmother has Gone

My dear old Chinese grandmother passed away this morning at around 11.30 am from breathing difficulties. Who were with her? Her youngest daughter, her daughter-in-law and the wretched Indonesian maid. She died in my uncle’s old apartment.
