Make-up for combination skin

How are you doing? Me – I am on the look out for a tinted moisturizer because I am currently experiencing clogged pores and breakouts from my regular sunblock.

I am a long-term user of Clinique Great Skin Home and Away Set For Drier Skin range and had been using the Clinique Derma White Bright C Stick Makeup (stick foundation) since it was launched in 2010 (now discontinued).

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick

I’ve also tried Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick, Warm, Beige 0.31 Ounce, which is creamy and quite easy to apply.

However, the Bobbi Brown compact and concealer (Banana) didn’t work out as well for me because I can feel my pores (especially my nose area) clogging up.

P.S. Did you know that Bobbi Brown SOLD off her Bobbi Brown cosmetics business?

Anyway, I looked up top beauty bloggers e.g. Paula’s Choice. She recommended that people with combination skin like me should:

a) Stay away from stick foundations like the Clinique Derma White Vit C and also a Bobbi Brown one I used for a while???

b) Look for tinted moisturizers
– but the Clinique Super City Block SPF 40 NOT work?

I decided to walk into Sephora and chat with one of the sales assistants.

I met a friendly, knowledgeable and most importantly, HONEST, sales assistant who let me try the following Laura Mercier products:

namely the Laura Mercier because

Laura Mercier SPF 20 Tinted Moisturizer, Bare Radiance 50 ml (£49.00 & FREE Delivery in the UK.)

Word of caution: the oil-free one is best for really oily skins, not combination skins.

Also, the oil-free version dries up REALLY FAST so you need to apply it quickly after your moisturizer.

In the end, I bought the Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation, Cream 30 ml, (£35.00) or (£11.67 / 10 ml) & FREE Delivery in the UK

What’s my review for Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation?

I got an even and radiant complexion, which appears completely natural.
The featherweight texture of the Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation blends perfectly with my skin. (I hate wearing liquid foundation so this formula was featherweight). For a velvety soft skin and a smoother complexion.

The foundation is supposed to cover blemishes and skin irritations but since I have none, I cannot comment on this feature.

TIP: Caucasians may want to go for Cool 2 or Cool 3, while Chinese look good in Warm 1 – Warm 2.

Me? I’m tanned so I got Warm 3. I think I can use Warm 2 too.

Dark 1 seems some more suitable for olive skin.

Anyway, since it’s a pure mineral powder, it is buildable and you can even formulate your own liquid foundation by mixing it with your moisturizer. I LOVE it!
