Hush Puppies loafers not so “bouncy” after all?

by Kit on January 7, 2011

A year ago, I bought a pair of Hush Puppies loafers (a leather-and-suede mix upper) at RM224 (after a 20% discount), which is really pricey. Since I bought the loafers to replace my old pair of Lewre moccasins (purchased at around RM180 and lasted for 4 years), I was hoping to wear the Hush Puppies for years too…

I *really* like the Hush Puppies loafers as it has a Velcro strap, which I can size up to fit my swelling feet when I was pregnant and size down when my feet returned to its normal size again. Furthermore, they came with a “Bounce” technology, which is supposed to make your feet feel good. Hey, what more could a pregnant woman want than comfy shoes, right?

Lastly, the loafers looked good in a neutral shade of taupe. Don’t you think they look good too?

Unfortunately, these Hush Puppies turned out to be quite a dud!

In the first few months post-partum when your feet and your whole body are still aching, I found these loafers to be the most uncomfortable pair of shoes! I am not kidding – my feet ached and my back hurt after just about an hour of walking around a shopping mall and I wasn’t even carrying the baby :S

Hubby was quite puzzled when I complained that my feet ached because he owned a pair of Hush Puppies that were really, really comfortable he was loathed to let them go.

It’s really weird but I find myself reaching for the cheaper pair of Sembonia slingbacks (bought at only RM89) each time I go out now, especially if I need to carry the baby!

Isn’t it a heartache to know that you’ve paid so much on such a lousy pair of shoes? The Hush Puppies are also looking a bit ratty around the corners, which *never* happened with my Lewre mocs and the Sembonia sandals are still looking great even though I’ve been wearing them almost everyday.

In case you don’t already know, Lewre and Sembonia are shoes that are designed and made in Malaysia.

The next time I go shoe shopping, you can bet that I’m not stepping into the Hush Puppies boutique again…

Mmm maybe its just that particular design? I have a few pair of HP shoes and they all seem alright. You might want to consider ecco brand. They are the most soft and comfy shoe i’ve ever worn.

The white pair is the Sembonia shoe? It’s really nice. Trust your words they are so comfy I might want to get myself a pair too. :)

allisia – Camel? I bought a pair too and ugh, I don’t like them either :S Never tried Bata Comfort before…

Etceteramommy – You could be right because I do have rather fat feet. Ecco brand, eh? Will check it out, thanks!

I do love the Sembonia sandals although I can look a bit “auntie” if I wear them with jeans. Best with capris, skirts and shorts ;-)

hush puppies loafers are my favorite comfy shoes.. planning to get another one soon ;)

I am kinda particular with non-trendy comfy shoes, at times i prefer to choose style over comfort

Karishma – I just found 3 pairs of Hush Puppies in my shoe cabinet, which means that I am a HP fan. Just don’t know what happened with this pair of loafers.

For me, as long as the shoes are comfy and well made, I don’t really care about the brands. But I do get upset when I pay > RM200 for a pair of duds!!!

I really miss my old pair of Lewre moccassins…
