My kids love to watch Mr. Bean and one of our favourite episodes is the one where Mr. Beach packs his suitcase for a weekend at the beach. Now that it’s so cold, he really wishes he’s away at some sunny beach and can’t stop talking about his swimsuit, his sunblock, his swim ring and etc. Sigh.
Anyway, I love that episode too because Mr. Bean is really silly especially when it comes to packing his suitcase: he goes through so much trouble choosing and discarding certain clothes – even snipping off the legs off a pair of trousers!!!
Finally, when he thinks he’s done packing and tries to squeeze a book into the bulging suitcase, he realizes that he had a bigger suitcase all along. Groan…
An interesting bit about this episode is how Mr. Bean tries to transform his hotel room to look like his room at home. For example, he brings his own set of curtains, he drills holes in the wall to hang up his favourite pictures and I think if he can do it, he might even bring his own glass mosaic tile to look like the ones in the kitchen LOL
Even if it is rather ridiculous, I think Mr. Bean is smart that way. He tries to make the hotel room look and feel “homey”, which is what I’m trying to do with our rented apartment here.
In fact, I think I’ve done such a good job the boy feels that “home” is here instead of his real home back home!!! Oops?
