When Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula didn’t work, I was captivated by the TV ad of Bio-Oil where a woman claimed that she didn’t have any stretch marks after using it!
According to Bio-Oil®,
it helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone. Its advanced formulation, which contains the breakthrough ingredient PurCellin Oil™, also makes it highly effective for numerous other skin concerns, including aging skin and dehydrated skin.
If you read the testimonials and thumbs-up reviews from the editors of women’s magazines like Red, Cosmopolitan, O, Women’s Weekly and Marie Claire, you’d go out and buy a bottle of Bio-Oil too!
My aunt was keen to try it for aging skin too and we were delighted when someone helped to buy it at a cheaper price from South Africa 🙂
Now, my aunt is a beautiful Chinese lady who takes very good care of her skin – at 50 plus, she’s still got great, smooth-looking skin. When she tried Bio-Oil on her face, she found it too oily – she also found the scent too overpowering.
Personally, I didn’t like the smell either but I was willing to try it on my stretch marks. Since Bio-Oil recommends using it for at least 3 months, I used it for almost a year since I have two large bottles.
The conclusion? It feels like any other body oil to me and while it provided moisture for my skin, it didn’t do anything for the stretch marks.
Now that the second bottle has finished, I’m not too sad to see it end simply because I didn’t like the smell. Sorry, Bio-Oil, it didn’t work for me…
